Sea Sprout Design, LLC is a yacht design firm with added consulting, project managing, and technician capabilities. Based out of St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Sea Sprout was established in 2022 to serve the world’s yachting community.  Sea Sprout has a wide array of capabilities and is especially well suited to assist with power or sailing multihulls and passenger vessels in the 30 to 65ft range. The firm embraces the unique challenges inherent in small craft design and prides itself in offering innovative yet sensible solutions.

Chief Designer, Karl Peterson, has been designing and building boats all his life. After completing the renowned Yacht Design program at The Landing School in Maine, Karl moved to New Zealand and worked with the creative power catamaran designer, Noah Thompson. He then found himself in the Virgin Islands working with multihull pioneer Roger Hatfield and Gold Coast Yachts. After managing the GCY design and engineering team, Karl went on to create Sea Sprout Design. With about 50 large custom multihull designs under his belt and having been involved in the construction of most of them, Karl understands what makes for a successful build and prized vessel. He values feedback from builders, owners, and end users and the knowledge gained is apparent in his work. When not working for Sea Sprout, Karl spends most of his free time playing on his boat and volunteering with the USCG Auxiliary. As an avid traveler, ocean enthusiast, and licensed captain, Karl enjoys any excuse to be on or in the water.
